The Kwara State Government has activated special security measures in schools in five Local Government Areas (LGAs) to ensure a safer environment for students. The affected LGAs are Ifelodun, Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin, and Oke Ero.
According to Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, the measures are part of the government's efforts to guarantee safety for schoolchildren and prevent kidnappers from targeting schools.
The security measures will remain in place until further notice, pending additional security clearance. This move demonstrates the government's commitment to protecting the lives of students and ensuring a secure learning environment.
The directive covers both day and boarding schools in the affected areas, with a focus on preventing kidnappers from using schoolchildren as human shields during security operations.
