Kwara State pupils Yusuf Abdurrahman Oreoluwa and Yusuf Maryam of Ar-Raheem International College, Ilorin, have been celebrated for their outstanding performance at an international Spelling Bee competition held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The duo, alongside Adeolu Oluwadamilola Oreofe from Ekiti State, represented Nigeria at the contest where the country clinched the silver medal.
Their success in Harare has now qualified them to represent Nigeria on the global stage in China in the coming months.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, on Thursday congratulated Oreoluwa and Maryam, describing their achievement as “clearly something to celebrate.”
“I thank them for being good ambassadors of our state — joining the esteemed league of Kwara school children who have had the world under their feet at various national and international competitions,” the Governor said in a statement.
He also commended the parents of the pupils and the management of Ar-Raheem International College for the milestone, urging them to “keep it up.”
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the feat reflects the state’s “unrelenting investments in qualitative and accessible education,” which he described as the foundation for any enduring civilisation. He added that the success was also “a sweet fruit of the strategic partnership between government and different stakeholders.”
The win adds to Kwara’s growing record of student excellence at national and international competitions.
