President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trips to South Africa and Angola due to security concerns following recent attacks in the country.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu will await further security briefings on the kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls and the attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
The President has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. He has also directed the police to pursue the bandits who attacked the worshippers.
President Tinubu had been scheduled to attend the 20th G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the 7th AU-EU Summit in Luanda, Angola. The postponement comes as the President prioritizes the security situation in the country.
The Presidency has confirmed that Vice President Kashim Shettima will provide updates on his sympathy visit to Kebbi, where the schoolgirls were kidnapped.
