Gunmen attacked Eruku town in Kwara State's Ekiti Local Government Area on Tuesday, leaving two people dead and one injured. The incident occurred around 6 pm, with the attackers firing shots in the community.
According to the police, the victims were identified as Mr. Aderemi, found dead inside Christ Apostolic Church, and Mr. Tunde Asaba Ajayi, discovered in the bush with fatal gunshot wounds. A vigilante member, Segun Alaja, sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at ECWA Hospital, Eruku.
The Kwara State Police Command said the Divisional Police Officer and security operatives responded quickly to the attack, forcing the bandits to flee into the surrounding bush. Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, praised the swift response of the police and vigilante teams, assuring residents that security operatives are committed to tracking down the perpetrators.
