Benue Revenue Team Visits Kwara, Seeks to Emulate Success

In a bid to enhance its revenue generation capabilities, a team from the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) paid a visit to the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) on Friday.

Led by Mr. Aondoakaa Titus, the BIRS team was received by the KW-IRS Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, and other top officials. The visit aimed to understudy KW-IRS's success strategies and identify key factors contributing to its sustainable growth and revenue increase.

KW-IRS has implemented various initiatives aimed at improving tax collection, simplifying payment processes, and enhancing transparency and accountability. The agency's approach to tax automation has significantly reduced leakages and increased revenue collection. The BIRS team showed keen interest in KW-IRS's data-driven approach to tax collection and its collaboration with other government agencies to improve tax compliance.

The visit is expected to strengthen the relationship between the two revenue agencies and pave the way for future collaborations. As states continue to seek innovative ways to boost their revenue, the sharing of best practices and expertise between agencies like KW-IRS and BIRS is becoming increasingly important.

Shade Omoniyi, Executive Chairman of KW-IRS, expressed her delight at the visit, saying, "We are pleased to share our experiences and expertise with our colleagues from Benue State. We believe that collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential in our quest to improve revenue generation and contribute to the development of our states."

The visit reflects KW-IRS's growing reputation as a model for effective revenue generation and management. The agency's success has been attributed to its commitment to excellence, innovative initiatives, and dedication to improving revenue generation in Kwara State.
